From Brochure to Patio: The Awning Installation Timeline

With summer just around the corner, the pressure is on to get your outside space sunshine-ready. If you’re looking at garden awnings, it might be helpful to get an idea of how long the process takes and what exactly it entails.

1. Initial Research

The world of awnings can be overwhelming at first, particularly if you’ve never owned one before. This is why many people prefer to carry out a little research by themselves first.

The Roché website and Roché Living blog are packed with resources which may help, including:

  • The difference between budget and quality models - click here.

  • The various types of awning - click here.

  • A glossary of technical terms you might encounter - click here.

  • Our Markilux and Weinor models - click here

We hope you’ll find our information useful, but don’t hesitate to call if you have a question you can’t find the answer to.

2. Showroom Visit and/or Phone Call

Once you have a starting point, you’re probably ready to whittle down your list to a few potential models. We can help with this.

Our showroom is in Oswestry, Shropshire, so if you live locally we’re able to show you working Weinor and Markilux awnings and discuss the differences between them. Get in touch to arrange your visit beforehand and we’ll make sure someone is available.

With customers based nationwide, we understand it isn’t convenient for everyone to pay us a visit. Simply call 01691 650600 for advice from an experienced awning specialist - you’ll meet a member of our team face-to-face in the survey stage anyway.

If you already have a budget in mind, we’re also able to provide a rough idea of cost during your showroom visit or initial phone call. Our sales team will be able to tell you the starting prices for our full cassette awnings, for example.

3. Survey and Quotation

Because each awning is made to measure, we’ll need to carry out a site survey to measure up and assess things like the wall construction and power supply.

We should be able to fit you in for a survey either that week, or at least the following one. This will be your opportunity to finalise which model is most suitable. There’s no pressure to buy, and it’s completely fine if you decide not to move forwards with the process at all.

The entire visit should only take around an hour - find out more about the survey process here.

Once your survey is complete, we’ll email you a formal quote within the next few days. This is our confirmation of the price you’d pay for the specification discussed with your surveyor. You can then decide if you’d like to go ahead. It’s still possible to change these details afterwards; we’ll just adjust the price accordingly.

4. Manufacture

The manufacturing process takes place in Markilux or Weinor’s German factory. We'll make sure they have everything they need, so you have nothing to worry about.

5. Installation

As soon as we’ve received your awning we’ll be in contact to arrange installation. This should take two of our guys less than half a day, providing everything is straightforward. In total, you will probably be looking at three to five weeks from order confirmation to installation of your new awning.

Even if you don't manage to make a decision in time for summer, remember this is an installation which is likely to last a decade or more. You will have plenty more summer months to enjoy it, and the high quality fabrics offer protection from rain showers, so your awning's use isn’t restricted to the warmer months.
