What is LPCB / Secured By Design approval?
The LPCB (which is part of BRE Global) work with insurers, government, police, designers, manufacturers, contractors and end users to develop methods by which product performance and reliability can be assessed. All the products approved by LPCB have been subjected to rigorous testing to assess their resistance to deliberate attack.
Secured by Design is the UK Police Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) flagship initiative supporting the principles of "designing out crime" by use of effective crime prevention and security standards for a range of applications.
The standard 2001 E37 shutter can be upgraded to LPS1175: Security Rating 1, whilst the heavy duty E77 & V77 profiles have been tested and approved to Security Rating 2. The V77 “vision profile” shutter in particular is proving increasingly popular in shop front applications. The relatively lightweight aluminium construction belies a very high level of product security and the V77 enables circa 50% vision which is a considerable improvement on traditional perforated products.
